Why work with a coach?

How is coaching different from therapy?
Psychotherapy and psychological counseling referred to as “therapy” involves the diagnoses and treatment of emotional, mental or medical disorders.

“Coaching” addresses specific and immediate concerns. Though assessment tools are used for self discovery and understanding, a “Life Coach” does not diagnose or treat disorders. Coaching helps to identify and name the source of current frustration or distress. It addresses the issues with practical, action-oriented options seeking to move the client to a more satisfying position in the short run – typically one to 6 months. If appropriate, longer term life plans can be addressed.

Who works with this type of coach?
